Composer Kirill Fandeev

Biography

In 1997, he graduated from Donetsk Music School No. 3 (now School of Arts No. 7) and Secondary School No. 92.

In 2001, he took part in the “EcoArt” festival, receiving a diploma for Best Meditative Composition.

That same year, he graduated from the Donetsk Music College (since 2016 – the Sergei Prokofiev Music College) in the violin class of Natalia Derbeneva, earning the qualification of Orchestra Artist.

In 2002, after completing one year at the Donetsk Humanities Institute (majoring in Music Education), he entered the Donetsk State Music Academy named after S. S. Prokofiev to study composition under Professor Sergey Mamonov – Honored Artist of Ukraine and Chairman of the Donetsk branch of the Union of Composers of Ukraine.

In 2007, he graduated from the academy with honors, receiving the qualification of Composer.

In 2008, he became a finalist in the Second All-Russian Andrei Petrov Composers’ Competition in St. Petersburg, chaired by Alexey Rybnikov.

In September 2009, he participated in the anniversary festival Kyiv Music Fest, where the premiere of his work Illusions was performed by the new music ensemble Quarta+.

In December 2009, he became a member of the National Union of Composers of Ukraine.

In 2009, he was one of the music editors for the book Musical Folklore of Donbass: Calendar and Ritual Songs of Donetsk and Adjacent Regions by Elena Tyurikova, Associate Professor of the Department of Music History and Folklore at the Donetsk State Music Academy named after S. S. Prokofiev, Candidate of Arts.

In 2012, he completed postgraduate assistantship at the Donetsk Music Academy in the composition class of Professor Sergey Mamonov.

In May 2013, he participated in the First International Festival of Contemporary Art Donbass Modern Music Art, where the Ukrainian premiere of his symphonic poem sAD was performed by the Donetsk Symphony Orchestra named after S. S. Prokofiev under the baton of Alexander Dolinsky.

In March 2021, he became a laureate of the Grand Music Art International Competition with his work Confession for symphony orchestra and choir.

In April 2021, he won the New Melodies International Competition (St. Petersburg) with a choral miniature set to words by Boris Pasternak.

His first officially released audio recording on major streaming platforms such as Apple Music, Amazon Music, Spotify, Deezer, SberZvuk, YouTube Music, and others was the electronic composition Wheel of Time, written in April 2021 and released in June of the same year.

On February 24, 2023, the Melodiya label included two of Kirill Fandeev’s compositions – Wheel of Time and 2022 – in its playlist Atmospheric Electronics for Work and Leisure.

In mid-2023, his rock tracks, previously released on streaming services, became officially available on the VK Music platform.

On March 24, 2023, Melodiya again added Wheel of Time and 2022 to its playlist Atmospheric Electronics for Work and Leisure.

In August 2023, audio recordings previously released on streaming services also became officially available on VK Music.

His works include numerous chamber compositions, choral works, a symphony (premiered in Donetsk on May 12, 2007, at the S. S. Prokofiev Regional Philharmonic Hall, performed by the Donetsk State Academic Symphony Orchestra under Viktor Oleynik), the symphonic poem sAD (premiered in St. Petersburg on September 14, 2008, at the D. D. Shostakovich State Academic Philharmonic, performed by the St. Petersburg State Academic Symphony Orchestra under Alexander Titov), as well as electronic compositions (Wheel of Time, Premonition, Jest, Courage, and others).
